Formed in the early 2000s during his time at Ashutosh College, Prithibi gained widespread attention as the first runner-up in the prestigious Band-E-Mataram competition in 2005. Since then, under Koushik’s creative leadership, the band has released multiple acclaimed albums and singles, exploring themes of identity, love, struggle, and social consciousness. His compositions are known for their emotional resonance, rich melodies, and poetic lyricism that connect deeply with listeners across generations.
Beyond his work with Prithibi, Koushik has played a vital role in promoting and preserving Bengali rock culture. He co-initiated Bangla Band Day, observed annually on December 13 in memory of Kutty Mazumder of Abhilasha, uniting Kolkata’s music community in celebration of independent music.
In 2023, Koushik and Prithibi completed a successful U.S. tour, performing to diverse audiences in cities like New York, Houston, and San Francisco, proving that Bengali music transcends borders. Constantly evolving, he has embraced visual storytelling in recent music videos and continues to push creative boundaries through collaborations and thematic experimentation.
